Undoubtedly, the Samsung S8 is a beast and own mind-blowing features, but still, there are some users who want to see the true potential of the device, and for them, rooting is the best option. So, in case, if you’re seeking to root Samsung Galaxy S8, then we are definitely going to help you out. In this article, we are going to show a step-by-step guide on how to root Samsung S8 and Install TWRP Recovery. Make sure that you follow the guide carefully without missing a single step, otherwise, your device may get bricked. Let’s get started!

As of now, this guide only works for Samsung Galaxy S8 Exynos variants – G950F/FD/N/X. In case, if you are owing AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile Galaxy S8 variant, then you must wait for the developers to release the guide.

Prerequisites to root Samsung S8

  • Make sure that USB Debugging and OEM Unlock is enabled on your device.
  • The complete rooting procedure depends on battery, so please make sure that your Samsung Galaxy S7 juice up to 70 – 80%.
  • Do have a backup of your data
  • Install “Samsung Galaxy S8 USB Drivers” on your Computer.

First of all, we are going to see how to install TWRP recovery on Galaxy S8 and then steps to root Samsung S8 with SuperSu.

Steps to Install TWRP Recovery on Samsung Galaxy S8

Step 1: Download the Odin tool and appropriate rooting package which suits your device from the above links.

Step 2: Extract both the downloaded files in a folder on your Computer.

Step 3: Launch the “Odin-v3.10.exe” from the extracted folder.

Step 4: Turn your Galaxy S8 off!

Step 5: Now, you need to boot your Galaxy S8 into download mode. To do so:

  • Hold “Bixby Button + Volume Down + Power buttons” together for a few seconds.

Step 6: Connect your Galaxy S8 to your Computer via official USB data cable.

Step 7: Once your smartphone is connected successfully, then one of the ID:COM boxes on Odin will turn blue/yellow/green.

Step 8: Select the TWRP file by clicking on “AP” button.

Step 9: Please make sure that only “F. Reset Time“ and “Auto Reboot“ options are checked on Odin.

Step 10: Once the setup is ready, then you can finally hit the “Start” button to begin the rooting process.

Step 11: The process will not take more than 30 seconds.

Step 12: Once it is completed, you will receive a “PASS” message with a green ring on Odin and immediately the device will be rebooted.

 If after flashing from Odin, phone says that needs restore. Just press “Volume up + Bixby Power” button and wait, then format data and Power off. Now go back in download mode, reflash with Odin, done.

Finally, you have successfully installed TWRP on your Galaxy S8. Now, let’s see how you can root Samsung S8.

Steps to Root Samsung Galaxy S8

Step 13: Boot your Samsung Galaxy S8 to recovery mode by turning off and holding Volume down + Power button.

Step 14: Once you’re into TWRP recovery mode, tap the Install option and then navigate to the folder /twres/flashables/.

Step 16: First flash “no-verity-opt-encrypt.zip” to disable data encryption and it’s optional. The main reason to flash this file is to enable viewing of internal/external storage in TWRP recovery.

Step 17: Finally to root Galaxy S8, flash “Magisk-v12.0-arm64.zip” and then reboot the device.
